Who We Are

Docomomo US/WEWA is a local community of individuals who share a passion for Northwest Modernism. Founded in Seattle in 1998 as a chapter of Docomomo US, the organization’s name is an acronym for the documentation and conservation of buildings, sites, and neighborhoods of the modern movement in Western Washington. Docomomo US/WEWA has been a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) educational and charitable organization since 2005 and is administered by an all-volunteer Board of Directors.

Our Mission

Docomomo US/WEWA promotes appreciation and awareness of Modern architecture and design in Western Washington through education and advocacy.

What We Do

  • We produce educational programs throughout the year (tours, lectures, events)
  • We lead or support preservation advocacy efforts to save threatened modern places
  • We provide technical assistance related to modern design and historic research
