Born on March 20, 1930, architect George W. Lucker’s formal education and background in Seattle is unknown. However, records indicate that he received his architectural license on October 22, 1957 (No. 1014) and his first known project was a small repair shop for the Page Construction Company (1958).

Upon establishing his own firm, Lucker quickly began to specialize in small apartment complexes and his designs have a unique cube-like form with projecting balconies and flat roofs. Notable examples include a five-unit apartment building at 3521 Leschi Place for builder Henry Goodman (1959), an apartment building for developer James Dennis Enterprises (1962), a 17-unit apartment for the Charles VII Corp. (1964), the Senia Mara Apartments (1964), a mixed-use apartment building at 4210 Aurora Ave N. for Charles Michelotti (1965), the Selaine Apartments (1965), and several distinctive apartment units scattered around the Puget Sound area for prominent builder Harry Thornberg (1967-1969).

He also designed several single-family homes, often working for speculative builders such as J.R. Garrick (1958) in Norwood Village, Canfield & Lee Construction Co. (1960) in Des Moines, and for prominent builder Walter Berglund (1963) on Mercer Island.

Lucker died in Seattle on November 18, 2013 at the age of 83.
