This aluminum Modernist sculpture is up for bid at District Auction at its February Gallery Fine Art and Decor Auction.

A generous anonymous donor has donated a fabulous aluminum Modernist sculpture (ca. late 1950s to early 1960s) attributed to artist Val Welman to be auctioned through District Auction on Sunday, February 15. The six-piece solid cast aluminum abstract wall sculpture was commissioned for the exterior of a commercial building next to Seattle Center, site of the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair.

All proceeds from the sale of this sculpture (minus the auction house fees) will be donated to Docomomo US/WEWA!

This is your opportunity to bid on this special piece of art from the mid-twentieth century.

Learn more about the cool sculpture and how to bid here. The auction goes live at 2 pm on February 15.

As a nonprofit organization that promotes appreciation and awareness of Modern architecture and design in Western Washington, Docomomo US/WEWA is honored to be chosen as the recipient of the auction proceeds (minus auction house fees). Big THANKS to the generous donor, the fine folks at District Auction, and our friends in the artist community for thinking of us.
